Preferred Urgent Care Katy TX Announces New Medical Director

Dr. Mary Santiago appointed new Medical Director at Preferred Urgent Care in Katy, Texas, dedicated to providing fast and affordable walk-in service for children, adults and geriatric patients.

KATY, TX – August 22, 2016 – Now heading up the medical staff as Medical Director at Preferred Urgent Care is Dr. Mary Santiago, M.D.. Dr. Santiago comes to Katy from Houston, where she has practiced child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric medicine for the past 7 years.

Along with her medical training and 12 years of experience as a physician, Dr. Santiago brings undergraduate degrees in environmental toxicology, psychology and communications from the University of Michigan to her new position at Preferred Urgent Care.

When a health care provider is needed urgently, Preferred Urgent Care is Katy’s alternative to the long wait and high cost of an emergency room visit. Located at 1450 Grand Parkway South, Suite M, in Grand Parkway Crossing Shopping Center, Preferred Urgent Care is staffed with licensed medical professionals from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. The clinic’s ‘no wait’ policy is unique among other regional urgent-care facilities.

Dr. Santiago comes from a family of health care professionals. “My father is an anesthesiologist, now retired, my mother is a dentist and my sister is a pediatrician. Medicine is our family business,” she explained.

Her diverse background and undergraduate studies help Dr. Santiago better communicate with patients. She speaks three languages: English, Tagalog and medical Spanish. In addition, as a mother herself, Dr. Santiago has a special understanding that helps her care for children and their parents.

I consider myself an advisor and a coach,” she said. “I’m aware of family and personal issues and sensitive subjects that patients might be hesitant to inquire about. Good communication is the key to a good doctor-patient relationship.” Wellness education also is an important goal of the new Medical Director.

“I really like the staff at Preferred Urgent Care, and Katy itself,” said Dr. Santiago. “I look forward to getting to know the Katy community.”

Dr. Santiago joins a medical and support staff of 12, including three other medical providers, which allows Preferred Urgent Care to offer walk-in urgent care as well as by-appointment doctor visits every day, including weekends. Workers compensation cases, physical exams for school, sports, and employment, and pre-employment drug screening are among the services offered at the clinic. On-site lab services are available and most insurance plans are accepted.

Many people automatically turn to an emergency room when they experience an urgent health problem because they are unaware that there’s another option, “When people experience an urgent medical issue that’s not life-threatening, we want them to know they have an alternative to the potential of a long wait at another clinic or the very high cost of an emergency room visit,” said Dr. Ebun Ebunlomo, Preferred Urgent Care’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our dedicated team of medical professionals are trained to deal with almost every type of non-life-threatening medical crisis, and our ‘No Wait Time’ policy means patients receive care quickly. We specialize in services for the entire family. There’s no age limitations at Preferred Urgent Care.”

No appointment is necessary, but appointments are available by calling Preferred Urgent Care at (281) 916-1444. The clinic’s motto is “Outstanding Care, Delivered Right Away.”
