When your child is at home, you have control over the environment. You know the health risks to your child. But, at school, your child is exposed to many other potential dangers they may not be used to. Let’s take a look at them and see how to protect your child.
At your home, it’s you, your child and the rest of your family. But, at school, it’s your child and hundreds of other children. With so many young ones so close, illness can spread quickly. Instilling in a child the habit of regular hand washing will keep them healthy and able to go to school.
Nutrition and Exercise
So many youths today go to school hungry or malnourished. This ends up making them think about lunch more than class. But, a healthy diet will help them focus on the task at hand. Providing healthy snacks like fruit and vegetables along with appropriate exercise at home promotes healthy development.
One of the most neglected needs in our society is sleep. Adults often stay up far too late on our phones, laptops, and TVs. Children often follow the same course. This lack of sleep in children is not healthy and can result in a serious drop in school performance. Help them get the eight to 10 hours of recommended sleep each night. You may benefit from getting an extra 90 minutes of sleep as well which will set a good example for your children.
Schools are mandated to offer certain shots to children of different ages. But, these are not all the shots your child needs to stay healthy. To find out what shots your child may need, visit a convenience-care clinic.
When your child goes back to school, there may be other concerns that you don’t think about. Some things to look for would be lice, dizziness or difficulty reading which may show the need for glasses, and signs of bullying or depression.
